Butterfly Field Trip

Allie's class took a field trip to a butterfly garden last week.  She was pretty excited about it.

She and her buddy did the rounds to make sure they saw as many butterflies as possible.

It was almost overwhelming how many there were everywhere.

Allie thought this was a really great photo opportunity.  She posed exactly like this until I finally got my act together and took her picture.  I don't think she was even pointing at anything in particular.

It was a very informative trip.  I learned that a butterfly makes a chrysalis and not a cocoon.  I don't recall ever hearing the word chrysalis before, but Allie explained that a chrysalis is hard and a cocoon is soft.  Apparently I need to go back to preschool.

Beach Vacation

We spent a week at beach for our summer vacation with our dear friends and their kids, and we had a great time.

Allie felt it was very important to redistribute the water.

While Andrew just got comfortable with the presence of water and sand outside a sandbox.

There was a lot of lounging.

And wading in the still pretty chilly water.

But, mostly there was sand playing.

We also can't understate the joy that Andrew experienced when discovering Doritos.  He had to try all the combinations: by the handful out of the bag, coated in sand, dipped in ocean water, rubbed on his face... he liked them all!

When we weren't beaching, we hung out in the yard.

And when coloring in the yard with your brother wasn't exciting enough, we watched a lot of Minions and Tangled while cuddling.

 And played with toys.

Everyone was sad to leave but happy to sleep in their own beds when we got home.  I'd call that a successful trip.

Gama and Papa Visit

Tom and Bonnie came to visit a few weekends ago and I almost forgot to post pictures.  They got Allie a new bike and she loved it!

Andrew liked to pretend he was biking along with her but really he was parked at the end of the driveway watching her zoom back and forth.

We went to the nursery and picked out some new flowers.

We also went to a Memorial Day festival down the street, ate lots of food, danced to some live music, and played in a fountain.

Thanks for visiting!
